What came first the chords or the chorus. The chorus of course.
Well sorta. I was groovin' on my Aunt's piano (playing the common progression I–V–vi–IV) when I came up with the chorus melody and lyrics.
That part of the song stayed "on the shelf" for years until I played it for my buddy in Ohio. He flipped out on the chorus and demanded that I finish it. Well I worked out the rest of the concept and plugged away until it was was done. The song's arrangement is interesting in that it has only one verse but two bridge sections. Enough said, check out the story of Bonnie and her poochie Fritz.
